Share Your Gifts

Our abilities are gifts from God, entrusted to us for a purpose; they are to be stewarded for his glory by serving others. Many of us come to Grace with experience and skills (music, sports, technical, computers, construction, art, organization, management, etc.) that can be used to support our ministry of being a friendly and caring community.

Whether you are brand new around here or been here a long time, new to Christianity or a mature believer, there is a place for you to volunteer. We want to help you find a good fit–a way you can volunteer that matches your gifting and fulfills you.

Below you will find a list of our immediate opportunities for service and current needs, but check out the various ministries at Grace too – there are many more opportunities to serve around here. Some of these are highlighted on our “Share Your Gifts” slideshow.

Some Current Opportunities

Opportunity 1: Audio-Visual Support to Ministry of the Church

Get involved by helping to support the audio-visual function at the Church. During Worship, concerts, etc. people are needed to help support the audio (sound system set-up and sound board during the service) and video (running PowerPoints and video feed during the service). As well, post-production opportunities exist to turn the video into files for our You-Tube channel. Training is available. For more information about this opportunity please contact our office so you can be matched to the AV Support Team.

Opportunity 2: Coffee Fellowship

After Sunday worship, Coffee Fellowship is provided in the upper hall. Refreshment is not restricted to coffee; tea and juice are also offered. Donations of homemade or bought cookies are always welcome and appreciated (if containing coconut, please label and please no peanuts or peanut butter). We thank all who have donated in the past. Volunteers to serve the refreshments are also needed; if interested, please contact our office.

Opportunity 3: Fundraising Activity Volunteer

Volunteering at one of our fundraising activities is a great way to meet people. Grace Initiatives Committees looks for volunteers to help out at events. For our lunches or suppers, we need people to help set up tables, make food, help in the kitchen, take tickets, serve, run the dishwasher, and help clean-up. For our other sales, we need people to help set up, sell and take down. Volunteer for one or several activities. The major fundraising events in 2019 are: Ham Jam (March 9), Lobster Supper (April 27), Perennial Sale (May 25), Tea and Sale (October 26), Sea Glass (November 23) and Book Sale (November 30) plus yoga in the winter months. If interested, please call our office.

Opportunity 4: Ambassador

Every Sunday morning, there is an “Ambassador” on duty to welcome new people to Grace. The Ambassador answers questions, introduces people to Sunday School leaders if they have children, and invites people to join us for Coffee and Conversation after the Service. If interested please contact our office.

Opportunity 5: Food Bank

On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, volunteers are needed for the Food Bank that is run out of Stairs Memorial United Church. On Tuesday morning, the Feed Nova Scotia truck arrives and volunteers package food for clients and on Wednesday morning, clients are greeted and food is distributed. If you are interested in finding out more about this ministry contact our office.

Opportunity 6: Communications Committee

If you have interest and expertise in social media, website design, and communications, the Communication Committee would be interested in having you join the Committee as this small team works to ensure that the congregation and the world outside our door hears about our message and activities. If you are interested in finding out more about this ministry contact our office.
