Sunday School

Everyone, regardless of age, is curious about God and Jesus. We have learning opportunities for children. Together, we explore God’s Word through art, drama, stories, crafts and fun.

Our Sunday School lead has been trained in the art of Godly Play. This is a method of story telling using props that allow the children to engage in the story from different perspectives. The picture to the right shows the telling of the story of Jesus calling the disciples.

We tell stories in many ways. The Sunday School made a video (below) telling the story of Jesus meeting people on the road to Emmaus which was part of the Church Service. The children really enjoyed the video’s creation.

Children have the choice to go to the Sunday School room (Lower Hall) before the Church Service or come to the front of the Sanctuary during the Children’s Story and go down with the Sunday School afterwards. For more information contact Vicki at vicki.harvey@ns.sympatico.ca.

The poster display (left) shows some of the crafts the children have made during Sunday School.

Children learn to express their care for the world by decorating cookies for Margaret’s House, making cards for church members, making leprosy banks, etc. For Lent in 2024, the Sunday School made fleece knotted blankets for Project Linus.

This is what our children think about Grace:

For the first 17 months of the pandemic, United Churches for Dartmouth hosted Kids’ Corner with videos (stories, crafts and meditations) that had been produced by local church members. These videos are available by clicking Here.
