Financial Support for Outreach
Caring is also expressed by us sharing our financial resources. Grace makes donations to organizations whose missions aligns with ours. We provide financial support to: North Dartmouth Outreach Centre Society which operates the “Food Bank” at Stairs; Camp Kidston, a United Church summer camp for children age 5-17 including a fund for child sponsorship; Phoenix House, and the Food for Phoenix program; Adsum for Women and Children, which provides emergency shelter, short and long term housing, programs and services for women, families, youth and trans persons; Alice House that provides safe housing, counselling and support services for women and children healing from intimate partner violence, Bryony House, a 24-bed shelter for women and children fleeing intimate partner violence; Stepping Stone, which provides services and supports to sex workers (current and former), people at risk of entering the sex trade, and trafficked persons; Mobile Outreach Street Health, provides accessible primary health care services to people who are homeless, insecurely housed, street involved and underserved in our community; WISH -YWCA which is women in supported housing and SHYM-WYCA which is supported housing for young mothers; North Grove, a community hub in North Dartmouth that has children and family programming and a community food centre and farm; Dartmouth Learning Centre which provides free classes and one-on-one tutoring to help adults gain essential skills to live and work in a modern economy;and the Atlantic School of Theology.
We received generous support from an anonymous donor in 2025 and additional support in 2026 so we were able to increase some of our traditional donations and were able to support some additional causes that align with our values: Homebridge Youth Society that provides housing and support for displaced youth; Hospice Halifax which provides end-of-life care; Avalon Centre supporting individuals affected by sexualized violence; the Schools Plus program that builds relationships between families, schools and the community, and Shelter Nova Scotia, who provides housing and a drop-in resource center to marginalized individuals.
