About Learning

Everyone, regardless of age, is curious about God and Jesus. We have learning opportunities for everyone.

During Sunday worship there is a Nursery and Sunday School program. Generally, the children remain in church until after the children’s time (story and song). Then they go downstairs for Sunday School, learning happens through stories and crafts.

We also have mid week programs for children and youth.  Check out our Scouting and Guiding opportunities.

In concert with United Churches for Dartmouth, we offer different opportunities for adult learning.

Spirit Cafe

At 5:30pm on the first Tuesday of the month we gather for discussion night at Spirit Cafe. Our discussion on a chosen faith or spiritual topic is facilitated by a member of clergy or a lay person. Discussion wraps up between 6:30pm and 7:00pm. Spirit Cafe is held at a local restaurant (currently a private room at the Wooden Monkey at the Alderney Ferry Terminal building) so the discussion happens as we share food and fellowship.

Spirit Cafe also happens on the third Tuesday of the month (except June, July and August) at 5:30pm for music and friendship. Accompanied by Adam Johnson on the keyboard, we sign various hymns and spiritual songs. Please check out our calendar or Facebook for additional details.

Bible Studies

Several times a year there are adult studies that focus on the Bible and faith issues. We have embarked on a pilot project with United Churches for Dartmouth to have clergy conduct studies at different churches giving us an opportunity to gather together and learn. The studies are held at different times of the day to allow an opportunity to fit people’s schedules. Please check out our calendar or Facebook for Adult Learning opportunities.

When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
